Guests can play historically at the Frisco Heritage Center on the second Saturday of each month. With new themes and activities, visitors will discover new ways to explore and play each time they attend. Activities may include touring the museum and historic homes, watching a live blacksmith demonstration, participating in hands-on activities, and more.

Volunteers assist with event setup, cleanup, guest engagement, and a variety of activities throughout the day.

Play Night at Discovery

Play Night at Discovery celebrates art, culture, and community with a special evening event at the Frisco Discovery Center. Guests enjoy free access to the National Videogame Museum, Sci-Tech Discovery Center, TrainTopia, and other Discovery Center spaces while participating in themed activities and exhibits.

Volunteers assist with event setup, greeting guests, refreshments, and general event support. Please wear comfortable business casual attire. Volunteer signups typically open 2–3 weeks prior to the event.

Concierge volunteers greet guests and provide general information and wayfinding at the Frisco Discovery Center during operating hours.

Schoolhouse Docents give groups of students an experience in the one-room schoolhouse.  This job requires an ability to work with and manage groups of children.  This volunteer must be able to speak loudly while sharing stories and information with the audience.  

Letterpress Docents will share the history of the printing press. They will also demonstrate how a letterpress works. Volunteers will show guests how printing was done at the turn of the 20th century.  They will assist groups with printing museum souvenirs as part of this interactive experience. 

School Tours Docents will lead school, scout, and other group tours.  This position takes place during the workday, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  This position requires an ability to work with and manage groups of children.  This volunteer must be able to speak loudly while conducting tours for large groups and enjoy sharing stories and information with the audience.

Frisco Discovery Center

Gallery attendants greet visitors, keep an eye on artwork displayed in the Community Gallery or Grand Gallery, and are prepared to inform guests regarding basic details about the museums on site, featured artists or exhibitions. Occasionally, they may help with shows loading in, being installed, or loading out.  

Shawnee Trail Cowboy Day

Volunteer with the Frisco Heritage Association at the annual Shawnee Trail Cowboy Day! This family-friendly event gives visitors a glimpse of what life was like along the Shawnee Trail before modern conveniences through interactive demonstrations, entertainment, and hands-on activities.

Past attractions have included Wild West shows, longhorns, stagecoach rides, armadillo races, pony rides, kids' crafts, blacksmith demonstrations, live music, food trucks, and more.

Heritage Halloween

Join the holiday fun at the annual Heritage Halloween, a family-friendly daytime celebration at the Frisco Heritage Center!

Volunteers help make the event a success by assisting with event setup, crafts and games, candy distribution, and cleanup.

Volunteer signups typically open 2–3 weeks prior to the event. We hope to see you there!

Nocturne: After-Dark Art Experience

Play Frisco's award-winning Nocturne is an immersive evening art experience held at one of Frisco's parks or trails. The event transforms an outdoor space into a gallery of light, sound, and interactive installations created by regional artists. Volunteers play a key role in creating a welcoming and engaging experience for guests by assisting with a variety of event operations.

En Plein Air Frisco
Held annually in April 

In collaboration with the Visual Arts Guild of Frisco, Play Frisco is proud to present En Plein Air Frisco — where art, nature, and community meet! Artists paint outdoors for three days and nights at several city parks.

Volunteers will help with event set up, artist check in and support, greet and assist guests, event clean up, and more. Signups will be posted 2-3 weeks prior to the event.

Blackland Prairie Day is a celebration of all things Blackland Prairie. Families of all ages can visit the Frisco Heritage Center for activities centered around the Blackland Prairie of Texas from 10-11 a.m. The Blackland Prairie Raptor Center will be presenting in the Depot from 11:15 a.m. - 12 p.m. featuring three incredible birds of prey found in North Texas.

Volunteers will help with different activity stations throughout the event. This event is held annually in the spring. Volunteer signups are posted about 2 weeks prior to the event.

Children ages 3 to 6 years old will go on an adventure with Cotton, the history-loving teddy bear, at the Frisco Heritage Museum’s Teddy Bear Picnic! This special event is held in the spring and hosted by the Heritage Association of Frisco. This 'bear-y' fun event will feature story time, hands-on activity stations, a Teddy bear Parade, and much more! Volunteers are needed to help assist with the different activities and crafts. Signups will open about 2-3 weeks prior to the event.
