City of Pleasanton Public Library: Booklegger
What is the Booklegger program?
The Booklegger program is dedicated to promoting reading to school-aged children in the Pleasanton Unified School District. If you enjoy children’s literature and sharing your love of reading, consider becoming a Pleasanton Library Booklegger volunteer!
Volunteering with the Booklegger program
Adult volunteers visit 10-15 classrooms per semester, giving 20 to 45 minute book presentations. These presentations may include short booktalks, reading aloud, and doing simple science or craft demonstrations.
Participants attend 15 hours of training—2.5 hours per week for six weeks. After training, volunteers are asked to visit 6-12 classrooms per semester for a minimum of one school year. Bookleggers determine the dates and times of their school visits, and schedule them with the assistance of school and library staff.
We currently do not have a date for the next training. Please contact the Booklegger Coordinator at the email address below to be notified when the next training session has been scheduled.
All Booklegger volunteers must be over the age of 18.
