General Interests
Lighthouse Resource Centre & Soup Kitchen
The Lighthouse provides a variety of community and family services in downtown Campbell River. The Soup Kitchen offers hot lunches Monday to Friday from 11:30 until 1:30. Street engaged populations can access showers, laundry and clean donated seasonal clothing, as well as camping and other helpful items. Housed clients can apply for emergency food hampers, clothing and household vouchers through our Family Services Program. We also open as a drop in with various activities on Mondays & Tuesdays before lunch. Volunteers are integral to the operations - assisting with preparation, cooking, processing and clean up in the kitchen: sorting and displaying donations from individuals and community partners; engaging in games, crafts and music with clients and in assisting to ensure the feelings of safety and security our visitors deserve.
Thrift Stores
The Salvation Army operates two stores in Campbell River. The Family Thrift Store on Homewood Road has many opportunities for receiving, sorting, tagging, displaying, and fun! The store is open Monday to Saturday and the typical volunteer shift is two - four hours per week. The Willow Point Boutique has a select inventory of clothing and accessories only.
