Urban Heat Island Mapping
Take action against extreme heat! This summer, you can join more than 100 volunteers to help map urban heat in Hennepin and Ramsey Counties. This will be a one-day event in late July or early August, where volunteers attach heat monitoring sensors to a vehicle and drive a pre-determined route, gathering data and helping us understand how heat varies among different cities and neighborhoods. We will use this information to inform tree-planting strategies, improve our emergency alert system, and more.
