Help Local Kids Build Reading Skills This Summer – Become a Library Reading Tutor

Hennepin County Library is seeking reading tutor volunteers for our Summer 2026 Let’s Read! program, and we’d love your help supporting local youth.

As a volunteer tutor, you’ll inspire K–5 students to become confident, lifelong readers through fun literacy games, engaging books, and supportive one-on-one guidance. Your time directly contributes to reducing educational disparities in our community.

We make it simple to get started—no teaching experience is required.

What you can expect:

• One two-hour shift per week
• Opportunities to work directly one-on-one with youth in grades K–5
• Clear materials, guidance, and support from library staff
• A meaningful way to strengthen our community

All volunteers must complete an interview, criminal background check and provide references.
