WIC Farmer's Market Nutrition Program Volunteer

Each summer, WIC partners with the Minnesota Department of Agriculture to provide $30 to WIC families to spend on fresh fruits and vegetables at local farmers’ markets.  Volunteers work in WIC clinics, assisting WIC staff in handing out vouchers and educating families on basic nutrition topics & how to use their farmers’ market benefits. The Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program starts on June 1st and ends September 30th, but you do not have to be available for the full period to volunteer. Ideally, the time commitment expected is a minimum of 3 hours per week for most weeks between June 3rd and August 30th.


Location and hours:

South Minneapolis WIC clinic, 2215 East Lake Street

NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center WIC clinic, 2220 Plymouth Avenue N

Northwest Family Service Center WIC clinic, 7051 Brooklyn Boulevard


Clinic hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with extended hours until 6 PM on Tuesday at South Minneapolis, Wednesday at the Northwest location, and Thursday at NorthPoint.

We are looking for volunteers with previous nutrition education or experience, such as undergraduate and graduate students in nutrition and dietetics, former WIC staff, and those with degrees in nutrition..
