Position Title: SALT Committee Member
Volunteer Type: In Person
Location: SPLC and local community 3333 Finch Ave E, Scarborough
Volunteer Hours: First Thursday of every month 11am – 12pm & special events
Volunteers Needed: 6 Senior volunteers
Reports to: Health Promotions Team Leader
Position Summary:
The SALT Program Volunteer will assist in planning, organizing, and implementing activities such as workshops, campaigns, and displays. This role provides an opportunity to engage with the community, meet new people, and help protect older adults from becoming victims of crime or fraud.
Responsibilities:
- Attend and actively participate in team meetings
- Assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of SALT activities
- Support activity logistics, including setup, registration, and participant assistance during events
Skills & Qualifications:
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer literacy and access to an email account (as most communication is conducted via email)
Boundaries & Limitations
- Volunteers are not required to answer questions from participants that fall outside the scope of the program
Working Environment
- SPLC office setting
- Local community centers, public libraries, parks, and other community venues
Orientation/Training:
- Volunteer Services will conduct orientation on organization’s policies and procedures, including COVID-19 measures.
- IPAC Mandatory training for onsite positions
- Organizational Training for new volunteers

Supervision & Evaluation:
- Supervision and support will be provided by the Health Promotions Team Leader.
Other:
- Vulnerable Service Sector Check screening is mandatory.
- Proof of full vaccination or Medical Exemption Certificate is mandatory.
- Must be 55 years or older
