Volunteer Hours: Every Mondays 1pm-3pm
Volunteers Needed: 1
Reports to: Active Living Coordinator
Position Summary:
The Mahjong Board Games Assistant helps support Mahjong sessions by assisting participants during gameplay and creating a welcoming and friendly environment. Volunteers will help set up and clean up game materials; support participants as needed and encourage social interaction throughout each session. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with older adults and helping create a fun and engaging program.
Responsibilities:
- Set up Mahjong tables, tiles, and materials.
- Assist participants with game rules and procedures.
- Encourage social interaction and engagement.
- Provide support to staff during program activities.
- Help tidy up and store equipment after the session.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Must be able to speak Chinese, Cantonese preferred
- Friendly, patient, and reliable.
- Interest in Mahjong and willingness to learn game rules.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work respectfully with older adults and diverse participants.
- Must be 18 years or older.
