Heather Landscape Volunteer

Do you have a passion for plants and horticulture? Why not help the UK’s leading gardening charity based in the beautiful setting of RHS Garden Wisley in Surrey?

The Heather Landscape team have a unique opportunity for a volunteer to join the team. Planted in 2018, the Heather Landscape at RHS Garden Wisley contains a 900+ cultivar rich National Plant Collection of Erica, Calluna and Daboecia accompanied by a diverse range of drought-tolerant planting. The three-acre landscape is managed with a wildlife-prioritising and sustainable ethos and takes inspiration from Surrey’s important heathland habitats. It is a unique area of RHS Wisley, providing a tranquil escape from busier areas of the garden.

Applicants should have a passion for horticulture, wildlife and biodiversity. You must enjoy working in an outdoor situation and be reasonably physically fit (garden tasks can be physically demanding).  The main tasks will include weeding, watering and pruning of the Heather Landscape during the Autumn.

Please click on and read the Heather Landscape Volunteer Role Description below for more details about the roles:

This is a new pilot role, and one volunteer is required on a Thursday, from 10:00-15:30 between May and November and will be reviewed at the end of the season.

Places are extremely limited, not all applicants will be able to join us.

We are committed to being an inclusive recruiter and welcome applicants from all backgrounds.  We are also committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk and expect all volunteers to share this commitment.
