Activity Support Volunteer

Are you ready to brighten someone’s day and join a caring team of volunteers? Whether it's through games, music, art and craft, or simply by sharing a conversation, as an activity volunteer you will help create fun and interactive experience for our seniors in Residential Care. You will engage seniors in fun, stimulating and enriching activities that contribute to their mental, emotional and physical well-being and make a lasting impact on their lives. 

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and assist in group activities: help with arts & crafts, bingo, board games, storytelling, musical instruments, book reading and other interactive group activities.
  • Provide effective, person centred support in a way that is socially, emotionally and physically safe and respectful for older people and their families. The support offered is irrespective of the person's identity, culture, ability, diversity, beliefs and life experiences.
  • Organize special events: assist our team members in planning and executing themed events, holiday parties, and birthday celebrations.
  • Encourage participation: motivate seniors to join activities, offering friendly encouragement to help them feel included and valued.

Personal Qualities and Skills

  • Have excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to make personal connections with senior people, their families, volunteers and staff regardless of cultural backgrounds, beliefs and denominations
  • Be reliable and committed
