Key responsibilities

  • Engage in meaningful conversations and activities, such as arts & crafts, bingo, board games, storytelling, musical instruments, book reading and other interactive group activities.
  • Provide effective, person centred support in a way that is socially, emotionally and physically safe and respectful for older people and their families. The support offered is irrespective of the person's identity, culture, ability, diversity, beliefs and life experiences.
  • Encourage participation: motivate seniors to join activities, offering friendly encouragement to help them feel included and valued.

Personal Qualities and Skills

  • Have excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to make personal connections with senior people, their families, volunteers and staff regardless of cultural backgrounds, beliefs and denominations
  • Be reliable and committed
