Hairdresser Escort - various locations
The hairdresser escort volunteer will liaise with the onsite hairdresser to provide assistance in escorting residents to and from the onsite salon for the scheduled hair appointments and provide social support to residents whilst they are waiting.
Locations: Semaphore Park, Grange, Salisbury North
Days & Times: Monday, Wednesday & Friday - 9:00 am to 3:00 pm - Centrelink requirements can be met
Duties:
- Assist in the escorting of residents to and from their hairdresser appointments
- Provide encouragement at times to attend their appointment
- Establish rapport with the resident through actively listening to them talk and engage in conversation based on residents individual interests
- Provide emotional support and reassurance to residents as required
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality in relation to the residents at all times
- Liaise with the hairdresser at the beginning of the day to plan for the day
- Communicate respectfully at all times with residents, visitors, staff and other volunteers
- Establish rapport and maintain positive relationships with residents
Requirements:
Essential
- Clear communication skills
- Ability to initiate and maintain a conversation
- Empathy towards others
Desirable
- Experience communicating with older people and their individual needs
- A knowledge and understanding of dementia
Other Requirements:
- National Police Check
- NDIS Clearance
- Covid-19 vaccinations
