Food Room Assistant
The Clock Tower, Playford Blvd, Elizabeth SA
We are seeking passionate volunteer who will be supporting the daily operations of a community food program, with a focus on food handling, customer service, and teamwork.
Key responsibilities include preparing and packaging food items, assisting with deliveries, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene stand.
Days and Hours: Monday to Friday negotiable - 9:00am to 12:00 noon
Duties and Skills:
- Assist with bagging food items into appropriate item-sized quantities
- Assist with unloading goods received, general deliveries and transferring them to the Food Room
- Assist in the appropriate storing of all food items received and maintaining the food distribution area clean and tidy
- Assist with unloading goods received each morning
- Bag food items for distribution
- Stock shelves with incoming goods
- Rotate stock to ensure freshness and reduce waste
- Participate in regular stocktakes
Additional requirements:
- Engage respectfully and kindly with all program or site customers, and other team members.
- Maintain a high level of personal hygiene at all times: wash and dry hands thoroughly, no nail polish, change gloves regularly, cover wounds, and refrain from working with food when ill.
