Helping Hand Social Connections
The Volunteer Social Connector makes a significant difference in clients' lives by supporting Social Connectors with planned group activities. These activities promote social connection, reduce isolation, and create a more positive experience for clients.
Your Team Volunteer Social Connectors receive day-to-day support from experienced Social Connectors, with the Social Connections Lead providing ongoing guidance and mentorship. This volunteer role is part of a broader team, across the Home Care division, delivering services to our community clients within a designated service area (neighbourhood).
Duties/tasks:
- Support staff to create an environment of wellbeing and reablement and encourage
group clients to maintain independence - Assist with the set-up of the room for the activities and help with the clearing up and cleaning at the end of the session
- Participate and assist with program activities and group outings
- Encourage client active participation, promoting a climate of respect and dignity
Days: Mondays; Tuesdays; Wednesdays; Fridays - negotiable
Time: 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
Centrelink requirements can be met.
Various locations, including:
- Wandana Community Centre, Jubilee Community Centre (building 2) and Holden Hill Community Centre
Requirements:
- Ensure that mandatory licences and certifications are maintained, including:
o Senior First Aid Certificate,
o Statement of Attainment - “Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) - Maintain a current NDIS Worker Check.
- Maintain a Department for Communities and Social Inclusion (DCSI) Clearance*, where this is required.
