Volunteer Night Owls

Our Volunteer Night Owls provide a friendly, caring and compassionate service to our resident families. They are the central contact for all guest matters after hours.
Description and requirements:
- Volunteer Night Owls are responsible for assisting with check-in for families who are booked to arrive late to the House and facilitate their arrival orientation and assist families with reasonable requests, questions or concerns between the hours of 6:00 pm and 7:00 am.
- Volunteer Night Owls also help maintain all areas of the House in a clean and tidy state.
- Volunteers need to be reliable and trustworthy, culturally sensitive and have a high level of empathy, care and compassion.
- They need to be willing to work unsupervised, be proactive and use initiative and problem solving skills, excellent communication skills and the ability to interact and support people from all walks of life.
The role is available 7 days per week.
Other information:
- Our volunteers provide an empathetic and friendly environment for all RMHC children and families who stay with us during their time of need.
- Any after hours emergencies are referred to the On Call Manager for support and assistance.
- Volunteers have their own room at the House with ensuite bathroom facilities, TV etc - they are not expected to stay awake all night, but are the first point of contact for families if any issues arise after hours/overnight (which is very rarely)
Requirements:
- National Police Clearance
- Working With Children Check
- DHS Screening Clearance
- They will also be required to complete our on-boarding and training requirements - some of which is online and some face to face.
Volunteer Night Owls are rostered on 7 days per week, 365 days per year.
Minimum commitment for this role is one overnight shift per fortnight.
