VOLUNTEER ROLE DESCRIPTION
TEST AND TAG
OVERVIEW:
|
The Gawler Community House regularly receives donated goods from members of the community including electrical appliances. By law we are unable to sell electrical goods without prior testing and tagging. The Test and Tag volunteer will be responsible for this task and will operate under the direction of the House Manager and Volunteer Coordinator.

GENERAL DUTIES:
|
- Conduct electrical safety test on each donated electrical item and attach compliance tag.
|
- Ensure all parts of the appliance are included with it and in good, safe condition.
|
- Ensure that testing equipment is maintained in good order.
|
- Ensure test and tag license is kept current.
|
- Ensuring at all times that compliance with Australian Safety Standards is upheld
|
- Inform admin staff when new tags need to be ordered.
|
- Report any issues or incidents directly to the coordinator.
|
OTHER DUTIES THAT MAY BE REQUIRED:

- Attend meetings as required.
|
- Attend relevant training as required.
|
ESSENTIAL SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES:
|
- Current test & tag license.
|
- Current knowledge and understanding of test and tag procedures.
|
- Current awareness of electrical appliances and how they operate.
|
- Able to plan and prioritise tasks.
|
- Able to follow directions from staff.
|
- Able to work unsupervised or as part of a team.
|
- A pleasant, non-judgemental and empathetic manner.
|
- Honesty and trustworthiness.
|
- Appropriate dress, language and behaviour.
|
TIME COMMITMENT: As negotiated. Minimum half day per week.
