Social Support Companion

Social Support Companions are responsible for providing meaningful social connections and support that enable older people to continue to participate in everyday activities and maintain important contact and connections with their community. The focus of this role is on supporting residents to maintain their independence.

 

Activities may include:

  • Accompanying older residents to cafes, galleries, community activities or other places of interest
  • Providing support that enables older residents to continue to undertake everyday activities, such as shopping and bill paying
  • Going out for a walk
  • Friendly in-home visiting
  • Regular social or web-based contact

Social Support Companions require a National Police Clearance (dated less than three years from its release date).  Staff can help arrange this, at no cost to the volunteer, if required.

This roles requires someone who can commit to a regular ongoing fortnightly commitment.
