Social Support Companion

Social Support Companions aim to provide meaningful social connections and support that enables older people to continue to participate in everyday community activities and maintain social contact and connections. They focus on supporting the resident to maintain their independence. Activities may include:

  • Accompanying older residents to cafes, galleries, community activities or other places of interest
  • Providing support that enables older residents to continue to undertake everyday activities, such as shopping and bill paying
  • Going out for a walk
  • Friendly in-home visiting
  • Regular social or web based contact

Social Support Companions require a valid current screening check (which we can help arrange at no cost to the volunteer).

This roles requires someone who can commit to a regular ongoing fortnightly commitment.
