Emergency Relief Interviewer - Barossa

We have a volunteer opportunity for an Emergency Relief Interviewer at our Nuriootpa office. This role supports people in receipt of a Centrelink benefit or low income who are in immediate need. Support is provided in the form of material goods and financial assistance through food, vouchers and part payments of electricity, utility or phone bills, together with community information and/or referrals to services.

How you can help

By volunteering with us you have the opportunity to be part of a small team and provide support by:

  • Greeting and interviewing clients to assess their eligibility for assistance
  • Advocating on behalf of clients and referring them to other services
  • Assist in managing stock levels in the Food pantry and our linen supplies

We are looking for volunteers to assist for 3 hour shifts on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Volunteering with Lutheran Care requires a Working with Children Check. WWCC’s are free for volunteers. 

The impact

By volunteering as an Emergency Relief Interviewer you have the opportunity to interview clients and assist them access a range of supports they require to help them navigate their way to a better place in their lives.
