Social support volunteer

Helping Hand Aged Care, Lightsview, is currently seeking a ‘Social Support Volunteer’ to provide friendly visits and conversations on a regular basis to enhance quality of life, via shared activities based on the resident’s interests.

Volunteers must be punctual and reliable, have a friendly positive attitude towards other team members and enjoy working with the elderly, frail and cognitive impaired.

 

HOURS: Monday to Friday 9.30 am – 3.30 pm (Days/Time negotiable)                                                                                                          

NOTE: Social Support Volunteers are matched to the resident. More than one companion/resident pairing may be allocated. Other activities/roles may be undertaken as a joint function of this position

 

Responsibilities, duties AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

  • Able to maintain privacy and confidentiality
  • Keen to listen and share experiences/stories
  • Good clear communication skills
  • Must have good personal presentation and hygiene

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS  

  • Attend any mandatory training sessions
  • Undergo a National Police Check (at no cost to you as a volunteer)

  • Volunteers must be up to date with COVID vaccinations, ie double vaccinated plus booster

  • Abide by all policies & procedures OH&S protocol
