Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer at NorthCare Hospice House

Volunteers are needed to help in our hospice house. These duties include but are not limited to monitoring waiting room, directing visitors, making coffee and cookies, and other basic hospitality functions. Depending on the comfort level of the volunteer, this may also include visiting with patients and families, sitting with patients while family members take breaks, entertaining children while their parents talk, etc.

Onboarding Requirements

At this time our volunteer orientation for most roles is through a self-paced, all-digital format.

Volunteer interviews may be conducted virtually or in person, but there will be an opportunity to visit and get to know your volunteer coordinator during the onboarding process.

Onboarding Requirements:

-Virtual volunteer training (approximately 12 hours of self-guided volunteer training)

-KC Hospice volunteer onboarding powerpoint (1 hr)

-TB skin test (provided by KC Hospice at either Meritas Health)

-Series of background checks

-Drivers Licence

-Auto Insurance

-Additional KCH&PC paperwork (i.e. volunteer agreement)

-Interview with a volunteer coordinator

-Job-specific training as needed

If you have any questions about any of the information above, please contact Melissa Basgall, Manager of Volunteer Services, at mbasgall@kchospice.org.  Otherwise, please complete the application and the volunteer coordinator associated with the volunteer job opening will be in touch shortly with next steps.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care.
