Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care Volunteer Opportunities

Massage Therapy

One of our goals at Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care is to ensure that our patients remain comfortable in their final months. Volunteer massage therapists can help by relieving pain and promoting restful sleep for homebound and terminal patients.

Professional volunteers must maintain appropriate licensure for their area of expertise, attend a short orientation to hospice and provide their services 2-4 times a month.

Onboarding Requirements

At this time our volunteer orientation for most roles is through a self-paced, all-digital format.

Volunteer interviews may be conducted virtually or in person, but there will be an opportunity to visit and get to know your volunteer coordinator during the onboarding process.

Onboarding Requirements:

-Virtual volunteer training (approximately 12 hours of self-guided volunteer training)

-KC Hospice volunteer onboarding powerpoint (1 hr)

-TB skin test (provided by KC Hospice at either Meritas Health)

-Series of background checks

-Drivers Licence

-Auto Insurance

-Additional KCH&PC paperwork (i.e. volunteer agreement)

-Interview with a volunteer coordinator

-Job-specific training as needed

If you have any questions about any of the information above, please contact Melissa Basgall, Manager of Volunteer Services, at mbasgall@kchospice.org.  Otherwise, please complete the application and the volunteer coordinator associated with the volunteer job opening will be in touch shortly with next steps.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care.
