Pet Therapy
Pet Therapy teams are needed to visit patients homes, nursing homes, and our Hospice Houses. These visits are always our patient and family favorites! We require that all Pet Therapy volunteer pets are certified, or willing to get certified, through Pet Partners or Pets for Life.
Onboarding Requirements
At this time our volunteer orientation for most roles is through a self-paced, all-digital format.
Volunteer interviews may be conducted virtually or in person, but there will be an opportunity to visit and get to know your volunteer coordinator during the onboarding process.
Onboarding Requirements:
-Virtual volunteer training (approximately 12 hours of self-guided volunteer training)
-KC Hospice volunteer onboarding powerpoint (1 hr)
-TB skin test (provided by KC Hospice at either Meritas Health)
-Series of background checks
-Drivers Licence
-Auto Insurance
-Additional KCH&PC paperwork (i.e. volunteer agreement)
-Interview with a volunteer coordinator
-Job-specific training as needed
If you have any questions about any of the information above, please contact Melissa Basgall, Manager of Volunteer Services, at mbasgall@kchospice.org. Otherwise, please complete the application and the volunteer coordinator associated with the volunteer job opening will be in touch shortly with next steps.
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care.
