Chess Club Program Assistant Every Thursday 2:45-5:15 PM

Calling all chess lovers - Mira Mesa Library is seeking Long-Term Chess Club Game Leader Volunteers

Every Thursday 2:45-5:15 PM (This will begin as an outdoor activity only.)

Description: Mira Mesa Library's Chess Club offers the community the opportunity to learn Chess by playing the game. As a Chess Club volunteer, you will need to be able to play games with participants while teaching them about Chess and game strategies.

As a Chess Club Volunteer you will:

• Run the Chess Club and help to make it a success

• Set up the space and tidy up afterwards

• Encourage participants to fill out the post-program survey

Requirements after being selected as a volunteer:

  • Mandatory orientation and training
  • COVID 19 policies and guidelines
  • Sexual Harassment prevention training (for those completing more than 100 hours of volunteering in a calendar year)
  • Participation Agreement 
  • Cyber security training 
  • Fingerprint and background checks (no cost to applicant).
  • Be available weekly

We would love you to apply! 

  • Returning volunteers welcome!
  • 16 years of age and older
  • You have good knowledge of chess and enjoy playing and would like to teach it to young people

Submitting an application is not a guarantee of placement. 

If selected, you will receive an orientation date via email to attend a Zoom virtual meeting.
