Pet Assisted Storyteller: Paws to Read Saturdays 11am-12pm

Description:
Pet Assisted Therapy Storytelling is a very simple concept: Children read to dogs. The dogs listen and don’t tease, laugh, or judge the child. Pet Assisted Therapy Storytelling provides a positive, nonthreatening, fun environment to support literacy. Candidates must be members of Love on a Leash. Activities:
1. Communicate story time behavior expectations.
2. Direct interaction with dog and children.
3. Collaborate with library staff in selection of materials for story time.

 

Requirements:
18+ years old
Background check
Reference checks
Annual training
Knowledge or training related to topic, or willingness to learn
Pet Assisted Therapy organization liability insurance
Canine Good Citizen or LOAL Control Evaluation
