How you will contribute as part of the TRCA Volunteer team:

As a Meadoway Ambassador, you will be part of a team of community champions dedicated to the animation of The Meadoway, Scarborough's community-powered greenspace. You will be working alongside TRCA staff to support the delivery of community stewardship events and learning experiences that teach a greater appreciation of the environment and empower people to get outside and enjoy nature.

TRCA's Community Outreach and Education Team develops and delivers numerous events across TRCA's jurisdiction that engage various audiences. Events include guided nature hikes, native plantings, litter cleanups, gardening or nature workshops, education booths at large festivals, community science events, and more.

What you will do as a volunteer (training will be provided): 

  • Assist with the set-up and take-down of tables, tents, and other event equipment
  • Greet participants, collect registration information, and answer questions regarding the event or program
  • Assist with nature interpretation at events
  • Engage event participants in interactive activities at events (training will be provided)
  • Attend at least one virtual steering meeting annually
  • Adhere to all TRCA safety policies and procedures

What will you need to succeed: 

  • Passion for or knowledge of environmental topics, with a focus on local wildlife, native plants, and environmental conservation
  • Experience with community events or an interest in providing nature interpretation to the general public
  • Comfortable working outdoors in a team environment
  • Customer service experience is an asset
  • Familiarity with TRCA and its programs is an asset
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
