Join waterway charity Thames21 to help spruce up the Dagenham Brook within Leyton Jubilee Park. We’ll be removing litter, and cutting back some of the vegetation to improve this area for people and wildlife.

We will be meeting on the following days:

Saturday 7th January 2017
Saturday 4th February  2017

Purpose of a Friend of Dagenham Brook

 The Dagenham Brook within Leyton Jubilee Park has been neglected over time. Funded by Waltham Forest Council waterway charity Thames21 is running monthly volunteer events to help clean up this section of the brook, and offering volunteers the chance to undertake further free training.   

 

Main Tasks

The types of tasks typically undertaken include:

  • Vegetation management of the banks of the Dagenham Brook
  • Removal of litter from in and around the Dagenham Brook
  • Installation of pollution reporting signage
  • Installation of drain markers

Volunteering hours and duration of role

  • We ask that volunteers commit to the role for a minimum of 1 day per month
  • Volunteer events are usually on Saturdays from 9.30am – 1pm

 

Supervision

  • Thames21 are the organisers of this event, they have 15 years experience in organising enjoyable and safe volunteering events. Please just turn up on time on the day, any questions regarding the event should be directed to Ben.fenton@thames21.org.uk
