Young Person’s Conservation Volunteer

The Young Persons Conservation group is a dedicated program designed to give Young people some foundation skills in the Environment sector and experience of undertaking conservation work in a premier park.

We are looking for young people aged between 16-24 to join us in a fun and engaging nature conservation program in Lloyd Park, Walthamstow, to learn key skills in outdoor working. All tools and equipment are provided as well as training and support for all volunteers. We are a leading conservation charity working with local people to improve, enhance and preserve our natural spaces. If you are interested or know someone who is please contact us the address below.

Purpose of a Young Persons Nature Conservation Volunteer

To undertake conservation tasks and to add to the major refurbishments in Lloyd Park

 

Main Tasks

The type of tasks typically undertaken include:

  • Planting wildflowers, bulbs, shrubs and trees
  • Fencing and building paths and steps
  • Wetland management
  • Removal of invasive species

Volunteering hours and duration of role

  • It is hoped that volunteers will be able to provide a minimum of 3 hours every Monday and Thursday between 12:00 -15:00pm
  • This role is ongoing for as long as volunteers wish to commit

 

Supervision

  • The sessions are managed by qualified leaders who are trained in first aid. TCV takes health and safety seriously and full training is provided to all volunteers who are looking to get more involved with the running of projects and other tasks like admin or linking with social media

  • Enthusiastic about the outdoors and willing to learn and meet new people.
