Volunteer Paralegal | Animal Prosecutions

The RSPCA is seeking a dedicated volunteer paralegal to assist our legal team in animal prosecutions. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in criminal law while contributing to animal welfare. Please note we are looking for volunteers with experience as a Paralegal.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing cases for trial under the Animal Care and Protection Act
  • Draft legal correspondence and documents
  • Review and organise case files and evidence
  • Conduct legal research as required
  • Liaise with witnesses
  • Assist with file management and administrative tasks

Skills and experience

  • Current law student or recent graduate with a strong interest in animal welfare and criminal law is desirable
  • Experience in criminal prosecutions or paralegal work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities
  • Proficiency in legal research and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Commitment: 8 hours every Friday
