The Engineering unit manages a range of public infrastructure on behalf of the City including local roads, bridges, stormwater, dams and subdivision engineering services.  This involves ongoing monitoring of asset condition and performance, asset planning, survey, civil design and delivery of capital works projects.  The unit is also responsible for managing the City’s geographic information services and asset management data. The following is and example of tasks that you may observe and may experience during your week with us.

 

  • Some minor drafting of traffic projects

 

  • Introduction into requests and issues

 

  • Assist resolving some traffic/drainage requests

 

  • Observe minor drafting of traffic projects

 

  • Assess a drainage / bridge requests or some subdivision surveillance

 

  • Shadow survey staff and do some survey tasks

 

  • Shadow designer and possibly do some design work

 

  • Shadow designer and possibly do some design wo

 

  • Site visit and inspection of upcoming design or a design that is being built

 

  • Shadow GIS staff 

 

  • Data entry into into Konnect

 

  • Mapping

 

  • Shadow CID staff

 

  • Site Inspection to oversee construction
