Metro Parks Tacoma is looking for volunteers to serve as Community Cultural Engagement volunteers.

 

Position Summary:

The Community Cultural Engagement volunteer opportunity with Metro Parks Tacoma is an exciting chance for a motivated and culturally aware student to play a key role in fostering cross-cultural understanding and collaboration between Beyond the Bell and families within Tacoma Public Schools. The Cultural Ambassador will serve as a representative of Metro Parks Tacoma and contribute to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for our community.

 

Essential Functions:

Act as a liaison between students, Beyond the Bell, and the local community, assisting with the facilitation of communication and promotion events.

Check and edit translations of program flyers.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Cultural sensitivity and awareness.
  • Enthusiastic about promoting diversity and fostering a welcoming environment.
  • Fluency in English and a second language.
  • An understanding of how to access local community resources.

Terms of Employment:

This is a volunteer work opportunity. If you are a student, you may also be able to earn college credit for your work. The primary work location will be one of 36 Elementary Schools in Tacoma. The weekly time commitment is about 1 hour per day, Monday through Friday, with 2 – 3 early evening engagements per session.
