One on One Transport Driver
PURPOSE
One on One Transport provides transport to assist eligible Nillumbik residents to access their community
Drivers use their own vehicles to pick up the passenger at their residence and drive them to their location
LOCATION
Most passengers access locations within the Shire and surrounding areas. However there are time where residents will be required to access locations outside the Shire, these can be into the City
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Pick up passengers from their residence and transport them to their location
- Ensure car is clean and ready for a passenger (including room in the boot if they use a mobility aid or have bags)
- Record your odometer before and after the journey
- Notify the Transport Officer of any concerns about passengers’ health, safety and wellbeing
- Maintain comprehensive car insurance on your vehicle
- Carry a charged mobile phone
- Provide respectful assistance to passengers as appropriate
- Submit driver travelling claim forms to the Transport Officer at the end of each month
- Enter required data into the volunteer management database, myvolunteerpage.com.au (access to the internet essential)
REPORTS TO
Community Support Services - Transport Officer
TIME COMMITTMENT
Usually 0.5 day/week or fortnight or according to availability
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Good communication skills
- Minimum 5 years' driving with full licence
- Competent driver with excellent driving history
- Basic computer skills
- Patience and flexibility
SUPPORT
Training and orientation for this position will be provided by the Community Transport Officer. Ongoing support will be provided throughout the volunteer’s involvement in the program
CERTIFICATION/LICENCE REQUIREMENT
Current, valid and full Victorian Drivers’ Licence
