Bleep Volunteer (Chelsea)
The Bleep volunteering roles offers you the opportunity to experience different areas of the Trust. You will be a "roaming" volunteer - walking around the hospital, responding to requests for support and calling in at different areas to lend a hand. Tasks include:
- Taking medication from the pharmacy to the wards - helping patients to get discharged quicker
- Escorting patients in wheelchairs to the discharge lounge - ready to leave the hospital
- Escorting patients to attend different appointments such as x-ray, or blood tests
- Helping with patient surveys
- Taking chemotherapy medication to the Gazzard Day Unit
- Helping patients with directions
- Helping out in Ambulatory Emergency Care - offering patients drinks, doing surveys, or taking samples to pathology
- Befriending patients on wards if they are lonely
We have shifts available on weekdays between 9 am and 5 pm.
Note: this role is not available during evenings and weekends.
Note: this role requires you to be fit and healthy as it requires a lot of walking.
Location: Chelsea and Westminster Hospital
Volunteering Services Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
To be a transformational service which positively impacts the lives of our patients, staff and volunteers.
We care: We care for our patients, our colleagues, volunteers and for ourselves. We put welfare above service delivery. We actively seek opportunities to support social justice and social mobility, and to address inequalities.
We share: We share in each other's successes, we share information and updates, we share victories and challenges, and we share responsibility.
We innovate: We don’t settle for the status quo. We embrace change. We seek to learn from others, from quantitative data and from qualitative feedback. We iterate.
We give and accept feedback: Feedback is a continuous part of how we communicate and work with one another.
We are accountable: We take responsibility for our actions and learn from our mistakes.
We recognise our boundaries: We ask for help we need it. We maintain a healthy work-life balance.
