Hospital Gardening Volunteers

Hinchingbrooke Hospital have a great team of volunteer gardeners whose role it is

to maintain our courtyard gardens, making them attractive areas for patients, staff

and visitors to use all year round.  If you feel you are able to contribute to support our

gardening team and make a difference to the hospital we would love to hear from you

Our Volunteer Gardeners meet on Wednesday mornings each week



Main Tasks

This is a varied role and requires volunteers to help maintain the hospital courtyard

gardens and outside spaces and could include:


·         Pruning

·         Planting

·         Weeding

·         Hedge trimming

·         General Tidying

      ·        Project Work


This role can be physically demanding and involves working outside in all weathers


The Difference you will make

Your support in this role will help the Trust to maintain attractive outside spaces which can

be used by patients, staff and visitors to the hospital.  These spaces are invaluable and are

often used for some quiet time away from the busy hospital environment



You will need a basic knowledge of gardening, but what will be more important will be your

enthusiasm and commitment.  You will need to be comfortable working as part of a small

team of gardeners and enjoy working on small projects.  All tools are provided at the hospital


     All successful applicants will receive a full volunteer induction, relevant training and

     on-going support in the role. You will be issued with a volunteer badge/uniform,

parking permit and be able to claim travel expenses within a 20 mile radius of the
