Hunter (Rutherford) Shelter - Dog Enrichment & Walking

Dog Enrichment & Walking – RSPCA NSW Hunter (Rutherford), 6-10 Burlington Place, Rutherford NSW 2320  

 

Shelter environments can sometimes be stressful, and we need assistance to ensure our dogs are receiving the care they deserve. You will champion walking our dogs to give them a good stretch, (maybe throw that tennis ball around 1-10 times) and provide them with some paddock time. This role is suited to applicants who are confident with walking dogs, are active and want to make positive change.   

  

What are the tasks?  

 

  • Daily walking, active exercise, creating positive human interaction and socialisation
  • Create enrichment toys such as puzzle treats and discovery boxes
  • Reporting and communicating any signs of illness, injury or behaviour matters to animal attendants

 

 

What are the requirements?  

 

  • Be at least 16 years of age  
  • Previous canine handling experience (desirable)  
  • Able to lift up to 15kg  
  • Able to cope in high level noise and a busy environment
  • Have confidence/ability to handle dogs over 25kg 
 

 

Time Commitment 

 

We have shifts available once a week or fortnight from Monday – Sunday with the following times available: 

 

9:00am - 11:00am, 11:00am - 12.30pm or 1:30pm to 3:30pm.
