As a Volunteer Cattery Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the care and well-being of cats at RSPCA NSW. Your primary responsibilities will include providing daily care, socialisation, and enrichment for cats in the cattery, as well as assisting with cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure a clean and safe environment for the animals.
What are the tasks?
- Working alongside and taking direction from animal attendants to assist in daily tasks such as cleaning enclosures and litter trays, providing enrichment, assisting in feeds, and spending quality time with the cats and kittens in our care
- Use safe animal handling techniques and read animal behaviour to provide suitable and welfare-considered care for each individual animal
- Observing cats for signs of illness, injury, and behaviour matters
- Reporting and communicating any signs of illness, injury or behaviour matters to staff
What are the requirements?
- Be at least 16 years of age
- Able to cope in high level noise and a busy environment
- Ability to lift 15kg
Time Commitment
We are looking for people who can volunteer one day per week or fortnight from Monday – Sunday between 8:30am – 4:30pm.
Shifts available are:
8:30am – 12:30pm or 12:30pm – 4:30pm.
