RSPCA NSW is seeking compassionate and dedicated volunteers to join our Emergency Response team. Volunteers in this role will play a critical part in assisting and supporting both animals and pet owners affected by bushfires and other emergencies in NSW. Your primary responsibilities will include setting up and assisting at evacuation centres and RSPCA Relief Points, distributing pet supplies, and providing valuable support to pet owners in need. 

 

This role is suited to applicants who are passionate about helping people and animals during times of emergency.  

 

What are the tasks? 

 

  • Set-Up and Support: Assist in setting up evacuation centres and RSPCA Relief Points, ensuring they are organised and welcoming for pet owners and their animals. 
  • Distribution of pet supplies at Evacuation Centres and RSPCA Relief Points: Distribute essential pet supplies such as food, water, bedding, and crates to pet owners in the community, ensuring their pets' basic needs are met. 
  • Pet Owner Assistance: Provide friendly and empathetic support to pet owners, answering questions, addressing concerns, and offering guidance on caring for their animals during emergency situations.  
     

What are the requirements? 

 

  • Be over 18 years 
  • Enthusiastic and passionate about animal welfare and helping people  
  • Volunteers are needed on an as-needed basis during emergency situations. The time commitment may vary depending on the scale and urgency of relief efforts. Volunteers will be informed of deployment opportunities in advance.
  • Volunteers could be required to lift heavy equipment and spend long periods of time standing

  • Complete all necessary mandatory online training courses
