Volunteer Gardeners Wanted at RSPCA NSW Illawarra shelter.
At RSPCA NSW, we believe in creating a safe and comfortable environment for our furry friends while they wait for their forever homes. To enhance their experience, we are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers to help maintain and beautify our shelter gardens.
This role is ideal for people who are passionate about gardening and understand non-animal handling roles are equally important in contributing to the welfare of the animals in our care.
What are the tasks?
- General duties such as weeding, sweeping, planting and mowing our grassed areas and animal enclosures
- Maintaining our veggie gardens and harvesting plants for our pocket pets
- Assisting with overall cleanliness for staff, members of public and of course, our residents!
- Planting and maintaining flowers, shrubs, and greenery in designated areas
- Watering and weeding garden beds
- Contributing ideas for improvements and enhancements to the garden spaces
What are the requirements?
- Be at least 16 years of age
- Ability to lift 15kg
- Basic gardening experience (desirable) or willingness to learn
- Passion for animals and their well-being
- Positive attitude and a team player

Minimum Commitment
One day per week/fortnight Monday – Sunday.
Shifts are usually 4 hours, either 8am – 12pm or 12pm - 4pm.
