As a Volunteer Grounds Keeper, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the beautiful and safe environment for the animals in our care. Your efforts will directly contribute to the well-being of the animals and create a pleasant space for visitors, staff, and volunteers.  

This role is perfect for those who love working individually, don’t mind getting a little dirty, and take pride in their work. If you have a green thumb and want experience in a non-animal handling role, we’d love to hear from you! 

 

What are the tasks? 

  • Perform general maintenance duties including mowing lawns, edging, whipper snipping, pruning trees, and shrubs. 
  • Maintain grassed areas and animal enclosures through sweeping, planting, mowing, and weeding; removing green waste.
  • Assist with overall cleanliness for staff, the public, and our residents.
  • Report any WHS hazards to our facilities manager or staff. 

 

 

What are the requirements? 

  • Be at least 16 years of age
  • Ability to lift 20kg
  • Previous grounds keeping or hands on experience (desirable)
  • Experience using relevant equipment etc (desirable) 

 

Time Commitment 

We're looking for people who can volunteer one day per week or fortnight from Monday – Friday between: 

8:00am – 11.00am, 11.00 - 1.00pm or 1:00pm – 4.00pm.
