Surrey Wheels for All

Cycle support volunteer Haslemere

Surrey Wheels for All is a working partnership between the charity Cycling Projects and Surrey County Council. It is part of a national programme that makes cycling accessible to all and provides a range of adapted cycles, making cycling an option for people who find other forms of physical activity difficult.

Summary: To provide support to people with disabilities or differing needs to use adapted cycles

We are hoping to start sessions in Haslemere on weekend afternoons and we would ask you to provide a few hours of your time each week.

Main tasks: You will either be helping individual cyclists or providing extra support to group rides such as visiting Special Schools. Support needed by the cyclists varies from simply walking / riding beside them to give company and reassurance, ensuring they go the right way or not too fast, making sure they are safe.

Mission Statement

The Wheels for All initiative is a nationally recognised programme that embraces all children and adults with disabilities and differing needs, to engage in a quality cycling activity. By using specially adapted cycles, the activities are both physically and mentally stimulating and above all fun for everyone involved.

Surrey Wheels for All offers a great opportunity to provide a friendly, safe and fun environment for developing cycling skills for all and to take a lead in opening up new paths and promoting friendly group activities that can inspire others, irrespective of their individual ability or obstacles.
