Mission Statement
FATN Talking Newspapers provides a free of charge talking newspaper service for those with vision impairments. Working from our studios in Farnham, we provide coverage of local news for our listeners across the Surrey and Hampshire borders including Aldershot, Camberley, Farnborough, Farnham, Haslemere, Hindhead, Liphook, Bordon, Petersfield, Alton and Fleet.
FATN has a busy team of more than 80 volunteers, being readers and presenters, engineers and back office staff who come together in the studio to record and send out the editions in pouches through the post. We are a self-funding registered charity, run totally by volunteers, and one of the oldest talking newspaper charities in the United Kingdom. We deliver two talking news editions each week and a monthly magazine, sent out on easy-to-use memory sticks playable on special speakers provided to registered listeners, all free of charge. Listeners can also access FATN's recordings on the website, http://www.fatntalkingnews.org.uk.
