Headway Surrey (Guildford)

Volunteer Befrienders / Buddies

Make a difference and join our friendly team.

Headway Surrey is looking for volunteers to buddy / befriend adults who have an acquired brain injury.

Buddy / befrienders spend a few hours on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis. They provide friendly support for those they buddy / befriend, to chat about common interests, pursue leisure and social activities and access their local community.

They may meet up for a coffee and a chat, watch a sporting activity, go for a walk, or go to local places of interest. They choose when and where they want to volunteer their time.

In 2020 we are going to see if we can introduce Telephone Buddies for regular telephone meetings to help break isolation for those less able to travel.

Training is provided and reasonable expenses are paid, such as tea/coffee.

You will also be invited to the Christmas and BBQ Party and other training sessions.

Volunteers are required to undertake a DBS check and provide two-character references.
