We need volunteers who are able to give a helping hand to someone who is in need of some short term or one off assistance.
Types of tasks could be a spot of gardening or some simple DIY; maybe a bit of help getting to the shops, someone to help sort some paper work out, a cup of tea and a chat, accompanying to an appointment, help with budgeting, translating something into English, moving some furniture, changing a light bulb; it really could be anything that someone is finding difficult to do for themselves at this point in time.
This volunteering role supports our case workers who frequently find that their clients need a little bit of short term help and then they call on our volunteer buddies to lend a hand.
The people you would be volunteering to help could be frail elderly, someone with a disability, someone who is recovering from an illness, maybe someone suffering anxiety who finds it hard to leave the house on their own, anyone who for one reason or another is currently finding it difficult to cope.
This is not long term befriending and you can choose to volunteer to suit when you can fit it in, and choose to do the tasks that you are comfortable doing.
