Men in Sheds Session Supervision Supervisor - Ash
Volunteer hours: 1 or 2 morning or afternoon sessions each week (3 hour
Fridays preferred, but other days possible.
Reporting to: Men in Sheds Co-ordinator
Location: Men in Sheds workshop, Ash, Surrey.
Main Role: To help with supervision of the Men in Sheds joinery workshop. This will involve supervision and supporting up to 6 Shed members with woodworking projects, in conjunction with the Shed Coordinator and other volunteers. This will include working with hand tools, power tools and small woodworking machines.
Essential Skills Minimum 5 years experience in a woodworking environment. Good understanding of Health and Safety. Willingness to pass on skills and knowledge to Shed members. Good communication and organisation skills. Able to cope with Shed members of mixed ability.
Desirable Skills: Appropriate craft or NVQ qualification in a relevant woodworking discipline such as, carpentry and joinery, furniture making, cabinet making or boatbuilding. Understanding, patience and empathy with older people. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Note - Additional training can be provided on use of woodworking machines if required.
Expenses: Age UK Surrey will repay any agreed expenses such as travel costs
