Volunteer fundraiser
Remap is a UK charity with 65 branches across the country. We design and build devices for disabled people. Our engineers give their time for free. Charity funds are used to reimburse material costs and travel expenses.
The role involves identify funding opportunities and plan funding applications. Plus attending courses and taking part in networking events.
Attending team meetings and writing reports normally be conducted via Zoom.
Specific experience in fund raising is not essential. An enquiring mind, a friendly investigative approach to business and excellent communications skills are essential.
We design and build devices than make life a lot easier for disabled people We do this where there is no suitable product already on the market We can with the equipment owner’s permission modify client’s existing equipment
We charge our clients -patients or carers for what we do.
We also repair commercially available equipment.
We ask for funding from healthcare authorities through occupational therapy. Otherwise we are dependent upon voluntary donations and we do our own fundraising
We have volunteer engineers who give their time for free.
They are paid out-of-pocket expenses for raw materials and travel.
They have their own workshops and tools.
Groups of volunteers operate within a chosen location, such as Surrey and there are 60-plus such groups in the UK.
Mission Statement
Surrey Remap is the local group representing the national charity Remap (www.remap.org.uk).
The objective of this charity is to design and make custom equipment for the disabled when such equipment is not available commercially.
A visit to the website will demonstrate that this often involves quite simple devices, modifications to existing equipment, and even some quite complex projects. Remap comprises a very small head office and a countrywide network of volunteer engineers and handymen, who work from their own home workshops.
