Sunday Cook for Homeless & Drop In Centre
Hello! We are hoping that by reading this you have a keen interest in cooking and perhaps are thinking of sharing your gift with your local community!
Footsteps is a weekly drop-in centre that helps the homeless and most vulnerable in Guildford.
We have a unique role that needs supporting. Each Sunday Footsteps opens at Beverley Hall in Guildford town centre. At this session (running from 4.30PM - 6PM) we provide a small meal which is generously catered for by our cooks team.
We serve on average 15 guests and our cooks will typically make a large pot of soup (or something else hot we can dish out easily!) - and sandwiches to accompany. A large pot can be provided but will need to be collected from a GU2 postcode during the week.
Our cooks do the shopping for the ingredients (and any additional supplies needed), and are reimbursed. The food is prepared in their homes and then everything is delivered to us at Beverley Hall for 4.30PM. Our volunteers at the centre can warm up dishes if needed during the setup time (4.30-5PM).
We have a team of cooks so you would likely be asked to cook once a month (it is all based on a rota system from volunteer input).
If you think you could help - please do let us know, we would love to hear from you. Or please pass this on to anyone you think might be interested.
