Telephone Duty Officer
We need volunteers to take calls (on a mobile phone) from potential clients of our service, to log the requests and then phone round our volunteer drivers to match the request with an available driver. We aim to provide cover from 10 to 12 noon on weekdays. Outside these hours there is a facility to leave messages and the duty officer will respond to these also. Typically we would like our officers to be available one day a week. You need to be well organised, have a pleasant telephone manner, and be comfortable handling a mobile.
As the mobile phone and records are passed from volunteer to volunteer, it will be very advantageous if you live in Farncombe or Binscombe.

To offer lifts to elderly residents of Farncombe and Binscombe, or others without their own transport or convenient access to public services. Lifts will typically be to medical appointments but are also provided for shopping trips and to visit relatives, etc.
Clients make modest voluntary contributions towards the cost of the scheme.
Drivers offer a personal service using their own vehicles. Clients make requests via a mobile number, which is manned on weekdays from 10 to 12 noon, with a message facility
