Library Direct Volunteer
Make a difference to someone life by bring them the joy of books.
As a Library Direct Volunteer you will be visiting and providing books to individual readers, within your own community, who have difficulty getting to the library due to illness, disability, mobility problems or caring responsibilities. Although a large number of our Library Direct clients are elderly, people of any age may and do use the service.
As well as bringing the library to their home, for many Library Direct clients, their volunteer is a very welcomed form of social contact and this is an important part of your role. You should be prepared to spend between 20 and 40 minutes with each reader and be able to socialise easily with a wide range of people.
The time you give is flexible and dependant on the clients needs and how much time you can give.
Expenses incurred will be reimbursed.
This scheme runs from all of Surreys libraries.
This is what one of our lovely volunteers has had to say about their experience - "I think that one of the best things about this job is that you are meeting people; you are helping them to live their lives." (Peter - Library Direct volunteer)
