You may be driving the people we support to: 

  • Medical/non-medical appointments
  • Community events (e.g. every week we have an organisation-wide community hub event at the local church) 
  • Day trips 

Please note that drivers for Whitmore Vale must only use company vehicles when transporting residents as Whitmore Vale insurance does not cover use of personal vehicles. Drivers must be over 21 and under 70 with a clean driving licence and are subject to a driving licence check prior to using company vehicles.

  • Always treat volunteers with respect, consideration and appreciation
  • Ensure volunteers have a clear idea of their responsibilities
  • Give volunteers information about the training and support available to help them carry out their role
  • Ensure that volunteers are reimbursed for any reasonable out-of-pocket expenses including travel expenses
  • Provide volunteers with support through regular meetings or discussions.

In order to meet our commitments for the people we support, we ask that all volunteers:
  • Always treat Whitmore Vale staff, fellow volunteers and service users with respect, consideration and appreciation
  • Act in a professional way when representing us
  • Act in a way that is inclusive
  • Attend volunteer induction and any subsequent mandatory trainings
  • Provide as much notice as possible if they are unable to fulfil their volunteering commitment
  • Inform Whitmore Vale of any changes in circumstance that may impact their ability to volunteer in accordance with our safeguarding and health and safety policies.

  • Have good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Have a willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities
  • Have a passion for the mission and values of our organisation.

Mission Statement

Whitmore Vale Housing Association offers services to people with learning disabilities and we work alongside them to achieve the most out of their life. Through supported living and residential care we can meet a wide range of needs, supporting people with a mild learning disability, to those who have profound and complex disabilities.
