Ebernoe Common - Practical conservation
Sussex Wildlife Trust is the County's leading wildlife charity, who aim to help people enjoy, understand and take action to conserve the wildlife and landscape of Sussex.
Ebernoe Common is situated north of Petworth and is almost 200 acres of ancient woodland with glades and ponds, plus 200 acres of farmland, much of which is grazed as part of the conversion from arable to woodland pasture.
Practical Conservation Volunteers are needed to help maintain Ebernoe Common in its a natural state and tasks include control of invasive bracken and holly and keeping the glades and rides open for butterflies etc
The group meet on the first Saturday of the month throughout the year and on occasional Tuesdays during the winter months.
No experience is required, just enthusiasm, and being moderately fit is ideal, as tasks involve some degree of manual/physical work. We will not ask you to do the impossible!
A chance to learn new skills and to enhance your wildlife knowledge. The work that you do can lead to accreditation and be a useful addition to work experience.
This location is remote and not near public transport so having your own transport or access to a vehicle to get you there is preferable.
This is a very practical volunteering and you will need to wear suitable old clothes. Gloves and tools are provided but you are welcome to use your own gloves
